John Sheffield is a physicist with knowledge about fusion energy, energy in general, and the environment. He has been writing for many decades, including contributions to a compilation of short stories by local authors in north Atlanta, North Point of View: Tales of Alpharetta and Beyond, 2006. Among his other publications are: the chapter on “Future World Energy Needs and Resources,” in Energy, the Environment, and the Pursuit of Sustainability, Island Press, 2002; Plasma Scattering of Electromagnetic Radiation, Elsevier 2011, and a humorous memoir, Fun in Fusion Research, Elsevier 2013. He is fortunate to be a member of the Atlanta Writers Club, where he has won two first place prizes for poetry. His mystery novels, Roseland's Secret 1915, and Return to Roseland 2016 were published by Deeds publishing. He coordinated and contributed to the anthology, The Treasure Trove: A collection of Prose and Poetry, 2016. He won the Southeastern Writers Association’s Edna Sampson Award for a humorous novel, My Friend Albert, published in December 2017.
